PAS 125
AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES The Bodyshop Industry has a new and exciting option available with CARSQA……. PAS 125: 2007 certification scheme becomes live from the 1st January 2007. As the PAS 125 document has now been published Bodyshop Business owners up and down the length of the UK will start to hear references to PAS 125 and will probably be wondering what the repair specification entails. We are aiming to dispel some of the current myths about PAS 125 and present the reality of the commercial situation.
What is a ‘PAS’? PAS is a ‘Publicly Available Specification’ which is aimed at being a Technical Repair Specification for the Bodyshop Industry, and has been published by BSI. A PAS scheme aims to meet an Industry need, and to be of benefit to the Bodyshop Industry by Improving Business Performance and providing awareness and greater protection to Bodyshop Business owners. Its is only right and proper that if the PAS 125 certification scheme is to be successful that the Certification Bodies involved have: a.) Competent assessors, who have a good practical knowledge of the Bodyshop Industry. Certification to this specification (or any other specification/standard) can be provided by a number of Certification Bodies. It is very important to realise that PAS 125 is not restricted to one body. The issue to take note of is that the status of CARSQA in this context is equal to that of BSI. Any business owner is able to verify this fact by referring to the UKAS website at www.UKAS.com confirming the UKAS certificate numbers 058 for Certification activities (ISO 9001: 2000) and 0336 for Inspection activities (Recovery & Roadside Rescue Industry PAS43: 2006). The question CARSQA would like to pose to Insurance Companies and Bodyshop Organisations within the UK is therefore very simple, do you want some positive, professional competition with regard to PAS 125 Certification?. CARSQA are able and willing to compete in the PAS 125 sector so that the Insurance Companies, the Bodyshop Industry and most importantly the Bodyshop Owner can achieve a cost effective solution. CARSQA can offer a professional assessment/inspection by one of our experienced assessors from within the industry for ‘Vehicle body repair in accordance with PAS 125. CARSQA offer stand alone certification to PAS 125 or a competitive package of ISO 9001:2000, certification coupled with PAS 125.
